Comment MER115 has imperfect 14 bp TIRs, and 8 bp TSDs. Its terminal regions (roughly pos. 1-67 and 535-693) derive from Zaphod, on which it probably depended on for transposition. Note that MER stands for MEdium Reiteration frequency interspersed repeat. As such, MERs as a group are a grab bag of DNA transposons and retrotransposons.
